Crossfit Fig, to me, means new friends, new found confidence and most importantly family. In my before picture I'm pushing about 210 pounds (at 5’6”) — easily the heaviest I've ever been. It took a free health assessment that my work provided to open my eyes.
I was headed down a bad road from a health perspective. I thought of my wife and my new baby girl and how much I would miss out on their lives if I continued. That may sound a little dramatic but it's true — I would have been shaving years off my life if I didn't make a change.
So in my after picture I’m sitting at about 172 pounds. Almost a 40 lb difference and that's packing on some muscle too. My body fat percentage has decreased by about 13%, I'd say I'm happy with those results in just over a year's time. However, the single most important outcome of this is that I'm adding years onto my life now. Years that I'll get to spend with my wife and watch my daughter start a family of her own.
The Coaches at Fig have taught me to push myself to do things I never thought possible. I’ve created bonds and made friendships. It makes that health assessment every year look better each time. And it allows me to pave a better future for myself and my family.
The only regret I have is not starting sooner. A lot of people say, 'I'm not in good enough shape for Crossfit' or 'I'm not strong enough to do that.' In my experience, the the best thing that I did was just start coming. You will learn as you go and you will see the results. Nothing prepares you for it; there is no perfect time to start. Sure it was intimidating when I first walked in but the compassion and support that you get from this community is like nothing I have ever experienced.

I would recommend CrossFit Fig to anyone and everyone

I have been to several CrossFit Gyms across the country and am absolutely ecstatic that I found CrossFit Fig. From the first time meeting Felix and the rest of the coaching staff, to going back and looking at old programming and seeing the new programming, I couldn't ask for a better fit. The gym has a range of members, from beginner to extremely skilled, and all are very friendly and personable.

My favorite thing about Fig, besides the people, is the way they scale the workouts for everyone. Every workout will test the best of the best, and the scaling options for those that aren't doing it Rx are easy to follow and always right where you can see them. The coaches do a great job of helping everyone find an acceptable level for the workouts.

Stop thinking about it and just do it!

I started off at Crossfit Fig in Feburary, 2015 nervous as most people are to starting something new and different. But that quickly changed and FIG became a place that I had urges to come too during the day.

I played sports my whole life and was blessed enough to earn a scholarship to play College Football at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. After football in 2010 I really let myself go, I didn't have an urge to lift or take care of myself, past injurys were flairing up and I wanted to be a bum, because for the past 10 years all I did was lift and eat healthy.
Now let's fast forward to October, 2014. I was 325 pounds and recently engaged and I saw myself in pictures and was not happy with the way I looked at all, my body had changed, I lost definition, my strength was diminishing and I hated to look in the mirror.. So what became my goal is look great or my wedding in June of 2015..

I started off with basic diets and I lost about 10 pounds but I knew it was mainly water weight.. I needed more, I did my research about local gyms in the Blue Spirngs area. But I couldn't deal with places like Planet Fintess where they have pizza Monday and Donut Friday.. I wasn't going to push myself at a local 24 hour fitness center. I needed a place where music blared, people push you, you get results and above all; wanting to come back. Well, I found that here at Crossfit Fig. From day 1; I felt accepted and knew this was going to be it.

I can type this whole story up about why you should come here, but you have to see for yourself, when your sitting there wanting more out of life and to better yourself. You won't get it by finding a magic pill, a wrap, special weight loss drinks. It's getting up and grinding everyday to accomplish your goals. CrossFit Fig will get you there. Give it a couple months, work your butt off, don't cheat yourself and you'll soon realize what the FIG Family is all about.

From March 1st, 2015 weighing 325 pounds to June 15th, 2015, I lost 55 pounds. Low Carb diet and Crossfit is what it took for me, you can do it too.

Best choice I've ever made.

I started at CrossFit Fig a little over a year ago. I was overweight and hated what I looked like. I had a baby and nothing looked the same anymore. When I started I didn't even know what CrossFit was, I started because another friend wanted to do it. And now I can't imagine my life without CrossFit! It's more than just "working out". It's taught me how to love my body, and focus more on how my body can perform, over how it looks. I have also made awesome friendships, the kind that I will keep for a lifetime. If your looking for more than just a gym, CrossFit Fig is it.

It really is a Fig family

I am 46 and while I have always stayed in shape I spent almost every week starting at the gym as most do. Monday chest day, Tuesday Back day, Thursday arms day and Friday legs day. But then usually by Friday I was tired and just skipped it not to mention not having spent the time needed to develop these muscles that I should have leg days sucked BAD.

Enter Cross fit at Fig I remember the first day talking to Felix about how I have had a bad back years and that I don't really know if I should be doing these types of work outs. (You know legs). Felix just told me to scale, do my best and between him and JP (his brother who I am not sure is human) and Fatima, his wife, they have supported me, pushed me and refused to let me quit on my work outs. And god knows that I have wanted to because to be honest Cross fit is not easy.

Now seven months later, keeping in mind that when I started I could not even dead lift 225 without a great deal of pain, I now dead lift 300 and I have figured something out - I don't really have a bad back. I had horrible weaknesses that I ignored and allowed to dictate my life style. I am stronger, my body fat has dropped from 15% to around 11% and I have lost nearly 20 lbs.

One more thing about Fig, if you have never walked into a Cross fit gym or box as its called, you will see beautiful people, with amazing bodies pushing each other. While that's great, what you don't realize is that many are married couples, spending time together, talking, laughing and hi-fiveing each other for their hard work. I love this about Fig. It's what I love about going with my wife of 23 years, that for one hour most days we spend it supporting each other not talking about bills or kids or work but how well the other is doing.

It really is a Fig family and everyone is welcome (even mid-40's couples just looking for something a little different).

It's simple...FIG is the perfect place to find motivation, relieve stress, sweat your guts out, laugh, get energized, have fun, meet amazing people, and change your life! I have been a member of FIG from the beginning. Because of the wonderful atmosphere that Felix and Fatima have created I can't wait to workout. The exercise I get from FIG makes me a better Mom, a better teacher, and a better wife! It is my home away from home, the place where I bring my whole family to meet our fitness needs. I highly recommend CrossFit Fig...I wouldn't go anywhere else! Thank you Felix and Fatima for pushing me...I feel stronger everyday!

Stronger than I have ever been

My husband talked me into watching a CrossFit class at Fig. I almost left in tears. I looked around and didn't see anybody that looked like me - 47, overweight and out of shape. All I saw were these hard bodies doing a killer work out (I clearly remember handstand push ups and pull ups). Together, my husband and Felix convinced me to stay and just give it a try.

That was January. Fast forward 7 months - I am addicted! I try to go 4-5 times per week. I am just shy of 20lbs lost :). But more than that, I am stronger than I have ever been. My mobility is off the charts from where I started, joints don't ache anymore!

All those benefits/changes are great but what keeps me going to Fig are the people. Felix and Fatima truly made me feel a part of their community from day one. They have always taken the time to help me scale a movement to my ability.

I may not be the strongest or the fastest, but I guarantee that when everyone else is finished and I'm still going, the members of Fig are there cheering me on!!

I've been to so many different CrossFit Boxes between Maine, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Illinois. Felix and his team have built one of the best that I've ever been to. I couldn't recommend them any more highly.
