The Leap of Faith


Three years ago, Janelle Chambers took a leap of faith. She had always been curious about CrossFit, but it wasn’t until a friend invited her that she decided to take the plunge. “If not now, then when?” she thought. That single decision led her to the doors of CrossFit FIG and a life-changing adventure.

From Stress to Strength


Before joining CrossFit Fig, Janelle was constantly stressed and felt out of shape. “I was stuck in a cardio-only rut,” she recalls, “missing out on so much more that fitness had to offer.” She was about to discover the missing piece of her fitness puzzle.


Finding Her FitFam


From day one, Janelle was welcomed into a community that felt like family. “Everyone was super encouraging and helpful,” she says. “I never once felt judged, which was a completely new experience for me.” The supportive environment, combined with the expert guidance of the coaching staff, made all the difference. They knew when to be patient and when to push her to new heights.


Celebrating Milestones


Janelle’s journey is filled with proud moments. One of the highlights was during the Open, where she accomplished 14 chest-to-bar pull-ups, a move she had never done before. “I didn’t believe I could do it,” she admits, “but then I just went for it and surprised myself!”


Beyond the Physical


CrossFit Fig didn’t just transform Janelle’s body; it changed her entire lifestyle. She became more mindful about nutrition and gained confidence that extended far beyond the gym. “I know my strength limits and, more importantly, how to lift safely,” she explains. The functional fitness she developed crossed over into her personal life, making everyday tasks easier and boosting her overall well-being.


Overcoming Hurdles


The path wasn’t always easy. Janelle faced numerous challenges, from building muscle to learning proper form. Her secret to overcoming these obstacles? “Consistency. Just showing up and doing my best, little by little, the confidence grew, the muscle built, and I learned the movements.” Faith played a significant role too, with many moments of prayer helping her push through self-doubt. “Jesus & I have LOTS of moments together at the gym,” she shares with a smile.


Rowing and Revelation


Rowing quickly became Janelle’s favorite workout. “At first, it was because it was a movement I could do without modifying,” she says. “Now, I feel like I can almost auto-pilot rowing, and it goes by so quickly.”


Words of Wisdom


To anyone just starting their fitness journey, Janelle’s advice is simple but powerful: “JUST SHOW UP CONSISTENTLY AND DON’T QUIT. The rest WILL fall into place, slow and steady, just like me. Be patient with yourself, and remember, nobody ever regrets a workout once it’s done, but you’ll always regret skipping it.”


A Fun Fact


Beyond her fitness achievements, there’s more to Janelle than meets the eye. She has a degree in sign language interpreting, specifically for deaf ministry, and she’s a major book nerd with a love for reading.
