Grain Valley Built: One of the Area's Longest-Standing CrossFit Gyms

Felix FigueroaAugust 27, 2026

Grain Valley built what CrossFit Fig is today. This community gave us a place to grow from Fig Fitness in 2011 into CrossFit Fig in 2013. More than a decade later, we are proud to be one of the area's longest-standing CrossFit gyms, still locally owned and coached by Felix Fig.

Longevity did not come from doing the same thing forever. It came from learning what helps real people stay consistent: experienced coaching, movements adapted to the individual, a schedule that works around family and work, and a community that makes hard training enjoyable. Grain Valley shaped those values, and those values continue to shape every class.

For anyone searching for the best CrossFit gym in Grain Valley, here is what we believe a great gym should provide and how CrossFit Fig has worked to earn that trust year after year.

Built in Grain Valley, One Class at a Time

CrossFit Fig's history began before the current location, equipment, programs, and schedule took shape. What remained consistent was the purpose: give people thoughtful coaching and a team-like environment where they can become stronger than they expected.

Every early morning class, first pull-up, scaled workout, personal record, and encouraging word between members added something to the gym. The CrossFit Fig community was not created by a marketing line. Grain Valley members built it by showing up for one another over thousands of ordinary training days.

Experienced, Owner-Led Coaching

A certification is a starting point. Experience applying that knowledge to real people is what makes it valuable. CrossFit Fig is owned and coached by Felix Fig, so the person responsible for the gym's standards is also on the floor teaching movements, watching technique, and helping members progress.

Felix has 13 years of CrossFit coaching experience plus six earlier years in group fitness and personal training. He is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer and Hyrox Certified Trainer, with additional CrossFit certificates in Level 1, Gymnastics, Mobility, Weightlifting, and the Judges Course. He studied Health Promotion and Physical Education and previously held a NASM certification.

Technique is always a priority. Every workout can be adjusted by load, movement, range of motion, and pace. A new member and an experienced athlete can train in the same class because each receives the version that creates the right challenge. You should understand what you are doing and why, not simply try to survive the hour.

A Schedule Built for Real Life

The best training program only works when you can attend consistently. Grain Valley members balance commutes, school drop-off, long workdays, kids' activities, and family time. CrossFit Fig's schedule is designed to provide useful options around those responsibilities.

CrossFit Fig offers coached classes throughout the weekday, beginning at 5AM, with morning, midday, afternoon, and evening options. Hyrox meets Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30PM. Sports Performance meets Wednesday at 7PM and Tuesday at 8PM. Members can also use Open Gym whenever a scheduled class is not using the floor, from as early as 8AM until 10PM. Saturday Open Gym begins at 7:30AM, and Sunday is Open Gym only from 8AM to 10PM. Review the complete CrossFit Fig schedule before choosing your training times.

More Ways to Train in One Membership

Goals change as people become fitter. Someone may begin by learning basic movements, then decide to enter a Hyrox race, practice barbell skills, or add independent strength work. CrossFit Fig gives members room to explore those goals without needing a second gym.

At CrossFit Fig, CrossFit classes, Hyrox training, and Open Gym are included with membership. The FitStart Intro currently begins at $59 per month for the first two months. Current details are published on our pricing page, and eligible members can also learn about using HSA or FSA funds through our Truemed partnership.

A Better First Step for Beginners

Nobody should be expected to understand gym language, Olympic lifts, gymnastics movements, or workout pacing on day one. You do not need to get in shape before starting CrossFit. You need a coach who listens, explains the foundation, and gives you an appropriate place to begin.

CrossFit Fig starts with a free one-on-one intro. You meet Felix, tour the gym, talk about your history and goals, receive a complimentary InBody scan, and work through foundational movement instruction. There is no fitness test you must pass and no expectation that you arrive in shape. The purpose is to give you a clear starting point before you join the group.

A Community That Makes Consistency Easier

Community cannot be manufactured with a slogan. It grows when members greet new people, celebrate progress, and help each other finish difficult workouts. Different ages and ability levels should be able to train comfortably together while still receiving serious coaching.

CrossFit Fig began as Fig Fitness in 2011 and became CrossFit Fig in 2013. The community has grown through years of ordinary training days, hard workouts, personal records, scaled movements, and members encouraging one another. Felix believes technique is a top priority, but having fun is part of what makes people return. The fun creates community, and the community creates consistency.

Training That Can Grow With Your Goals

Your goal today may be losing weight, rebuilding strength, or simply exercising three times per week. A year from now, you may want to enter a Hyrox race, improve a barbell lift, train for a local event, or help your child become a stronger athlete. A lasting gym should be able to support the next stage.

CrossFit Fig combines general CrossFit classes with membership-included Hyrox and Open Gym. Sports Performance serves athletes age eight and older. Able Chiropractic also operates inside the facility, providing convenient access to chiropractic and functional medicine services. Experienced CrossFit athletes visiting the area can review the drop-in option before attending a class.

Right Here in Grain Valley

Being part of Grain Valley also means being easy to reach during a normal week. Less time driving leaves more time for training, work, and family.

CrossFit Fig is located at 1500 NW Broadway St, Grain Valley, MO 64029, near I-70 and the Blue Springs border. The location is convenient to downtown Grain Valley, the Buckner-Tarsney corridor, Grain Valley High School, and neighborhoods on both sides of the interstate. Free parking is available at the gym.

What “The Best CrossFit Gym” Means to Us

Being the best is not a title a gym can simply give itself. It is earned in the details: a coach paying attention to your movement, a workout adjusted when you need it, a class time that fits your day, and people who notice when you walk through the door.

CrossFit Fig has an established record Grain Valley can evaluate today: locally owned since 2011, a CrossFit affiliate since 2013, experienced owner-led coaching, published hours and classes, published introductory pricing, a free private first visit, and a community represented by years of member reviews. We keep working to be our best because this community deserves nothing less.
